European Technical Assessment (ETA)
Woodies® Ultimate ETA/CE quality mark
Woodies® Ultimate galvanized screws are ETA/CE certified, meaning they comply with the strictest European standards. As a result, they’re suitable for use in structural and construction applications.
The European Technical Assessment (ETA) provides information on a product’s performance and essential characteristics. Defined under the EU Construction Products Regulation (EU/305/2011), it has applied across all EU member states since July 1, 2013.
The ETA forms the basis of a declaration of performance (DoP), to be drawn up by the manufacturer.
Therefore, the ETA forms the basis for the Declaration of Performance (DoP), which must be drawn up by manufacturers. It also ensures that products can be traded freely across the European internal market.
To ensure these standards and – above all – the quality of the products, our screws undergo thorough quality testing. Not only do we carry out tests at the manufacturing site, but also at our own Academy in Lelystad. This test facility is fitted with professional test equipment, which is used to test various properties of the screws, such as grip point, breaking point and drill speed in both soft and hard wood.
Protected in a special EP5 coating
Woodies® Ultimate C4 quality mark
Shield Outdoor (Blackline) screws are C4-certified. This means that they meet the highest standard of corrosion protection. These Woodies® Ultimate screws have a special corrosion-resistant EP5 coating, thanks to which the Shield Outdoor screws are many times stronger and more resistant than, for example, stainless steel screws.
Salt spray test
This commonly applied test method assesses the corrosion resistance of screws by subjecting them to a continuous spray of saline solution. The chart below compares the performance of the corrosion-resistance coating of Woodies® Ultimate Shield Outdoor screws against the corrosion resistance performance of a range of coated stainless steel screws. Findings: Shield Outdoor (Blackline) screws pass this salt spray test for up to 2,000 hours.
Rigorously tested
Woodies® Ultimate SHR quality mark
The SHR wood research foundation conducts independent tests in its laboratories. The following properties are tested: pull-out resistance, pull-through resistance, screwing-in torque and flexural strength. At least once a year, SHR carries out spot checks to ascertain whether the screws still have the right properties.
